2010: Initial Effort
Technical Advisory Committee established, held 8 TAC meetings, developed Draft Applicants Handbook based on 2007 report. Rule effort and FDEP funded research eliminated by Gov. Scott.

2020: Clean Waterways Act
Approved during 2020 Legislative session, signed by Governor on June 30, 2020. Directed FDEP to initiate rulemaking by January 1, 2021, update the ERP Applicant’s Handbook using recent scientific information.

2020-2021: Rule Development
Conducted 13 TAC meetings from December 2020 to November 2021. Discussed BMP efficiencies, maintenance, and desired treatment levels. Final Report issued by FDEP in March 2022.

2024: New Rule Signed
On June 28, 2024, Governor Ron DeSantis signed Senate Bill 7040 into law, updating Florida’s stormwater rules and design criteria.
