ERP Applicant’s Handbook
Unified Statewide Guidance
FDEP developed Volume I of the ERP Applicant’s Handbook, which applies to each of the five Water Management Districts. Based largely on the 2007 report, Part II—Sections 8 & 9—contain basic evaluation and design criteria.
Volume I: Statewide Standards
Volume I provides comprehensive guidance that applies uniformly across all five Water Management Districts, ensuring consistency in stormwater design and permitting throughout Florida.
Key Sections: Part II contains Sections 8 and 9, which cover basic evaluation methodologies and design criteria for stormwater treatment systems.
Volume II: Each Water Management District developed a Volume II addressing unique regional aspects such as hydrology and land use specific to their area.
Compensating Treatment Options
The handbook allows “compensating treatment” through overtreatment or off-site treatment options. This flexibility enables projects to meet performance standards through innovative approaches while maintaining environmental protection goals.
